As the Mom to three adult children (Courtney-25 Brandon-23 and Brittany-19) I am proud to say that I managed fairly well as a single parent who received very little support...financially or otherwise, from my childrens' Father. Hind-sight being 20/20, there are alot of things I would change if I had it to do it all again. The purpose of this sight is to be "helpful" in some way and while I can't afford to contribute financially, I can well afford to share some hard won knowledge, with the hope that it might benefit someone!
Youth is very short sighted. It is so easy to want to RUSH a relationship to the next level without thinking of how that may shape your future or the future of your kiddos. I have grown to LOVE Dr. Laura Schlessingers' daily talk show as an adult. I clearly remember the first time I heard her show...I HATED her. She seemed to RUSH to judgement without having the facts. Then when the caller would try to "explain" she would abruptly cut them off, saying "You asked for my opinion, right?" I can laugh about it NOW...as my (young) adult daughters are shaking their heads and saying "Mom...how can you STAND her?" The thing is...she is RIGHT in everything she says. The caller may not WANT it to be right...but it doesn't change that it is! Morals...principals...are different from one person to the next...but by and far, right IS RIGHT. I highly recommend her website! AND....when it comes to relationships...her advice to "Choose WISELY and then treat KINDLY" is as good as it gets! When you choose a person to spend your life with, you are making a PROFOUND investment. Yet so many people will immediately look for the "flaws" of their partner after the marriage has already happened! Or pick a man to death, instead of using their womanly whiles to coax the very best from their mate! If I have a "complaint" about my man...the chance that it will come out of my mouth to anyone is next to NONE. He does SO much...on a day to day basis...to show how much he cares about me, it would have to be a REAL DOOZIE of a flaw to be important enough for me to utter a word. Let me clarify ONE thing, here. I am NO better than any female out there! EXPERIENCE has taught me that I WANT my man to feel like the King of my universe. I want him to feel adored. Facts are facts....and the more I GIVE...the more I get! Had I believed this when my children were young and their Dad was still in the house...our lives would have been so different! I firmly believe that the abundance of poverty falls on families with single parent households...and if we choose our mates more WISELY....commit ourselves to that relationship and then treat our mates with the love and respect we should...the world would be a better place

I have wife and two children and I'm working two jobs trying to take care of all of my responsibilites. God has blessed me with a healthy family and a job that lets me help the mentally challenged so I'm very happy with what I have. Its almost time to register for school and I don't have a permanent address for my kids, I'm trying to save the money to get a home but everytime we get close something happens. Your prayers would be more than enough.
I have a three year old son who will ultimately suffer if I go to school, and try to work full time to help support him. Between time spent with him, work, sleep, school and homework it seems like an incredibly daunting task. FAFSA is supplying minimal amounts of money, I'm assuming due to the time of year I applied for assistance, and i'm trying not to completely indebt myself to the student loan people.
I'm taking fifteen credits (prerecusites for the nursing program) this term, in a span of five and a half hours, which makes finding a job difficult I'm finding.
Basically i'm looking for some help to succeed in my future career without damaging my current family dynamic.
